Welcome to our band website
. A traditional British brass band in the heart of the East Berkshire countryside, Waltham St. Lawrence Band was founded in 1886, and continues to make a significant contribution to local events. We are a non-contesting band, open to players of all levels of ability who want to make music for pleasure and entertain the public. Other recent engagements:
- 4th May: The band braved showers and chill winds for the Woodley Gardening Feast.
- 21st March: Local pensioners were treated to their annual dinner at Neville Hall.
- 80th birthday: WSL band played a half-hour concert at a surprise party for Bert House, veteran of the bass section, on 21st February. (photo)
- 6th December: Our Christmas concert, a very enjoyable evening of seasonal music in aid of charity, was held at Wokingham Methodist Church.
- 9th November: the band accompanied village Remembrance Sunday ceremonies in Waltham St. Lawrence, Bray and Holyport.
- 14th September: A Heritage Day bandstand concert in Reading's Forbury Gardens.
Vacancies:
New players are welcome to join the band at any time. At the moment, we have no specific vacancies, though another Bb bass and a baritone would not go amiss. Come along for a blow (see Rehearsals for details) and see how you like us. Use the Contacts page form to enquire further.
