Waltham St. Lawrence Silver Band

A traditional British brass band in the heart of the East Berkshire countryside, Waltham St. Lawrence Band was founded in 1886, and continues to make a significant contribution to local events. We are a non-contesting band, open to players of all levels of ability who want to make music for pleasure and entertain the public. You will find more details on the band's history and aims in the About Us page.
Several concerts and other events were held in 2011 to mark the band's 125th anniversary. This year, we have celebrated it by recording a CD at the end of March. It's still in the mix: details of the contents and order forms will appear in due course!

Other recent engagements:

Vacancies:

New players are welcome to join the band at any time, and visitors are welcome, too. Currently we have no specific vacancies, though another Tenor Trombone would not go amiss, and another back-row cornet would also be welcome. Come along for a blow (see Rehearsals for details) and see how you like us. Use the Contacts page form to enquire further.

German Exchange:

Under an agreement with the German band Musikverein Friesheim (MVF), from Erfstadt, near Cologne, our bands visit each other every other year. MVF's visit in July 2010 included a wedding and an Elvis concert (read the full report). In 2013, Waltham are due to be visiting Germany. You can click here to view a collection of photos from WSL Band's visit to Germany in June 2008.

Charity:

As well as raising money for charities such as Action for Children through concerts, the band sponsored a child in India via a World Vision programme in 2003-2011. Click here to view the project's closing report. We aim to undertake another sponsorship project in the future

Feedback:

Let us know what you think of the band, this site, the price of fish, whatever - you can leave a public message in the Guestbook, or send a private one to the Secretary or Webmaster via the form in the Contacts page.
